So, I bought The Sims 3, and I like playing it.

Were there a Sims 2, and a Sims 1 before The Sims 3?

I mean, I just want to know a little bit about The Series.

Yeah, The Sims (That's what The Sims 1 is called) come out back in... 2000? And it had things called expansion packs, such as The Sims 2, and The Sims 3 has.

The Sims 2 came out in 2006?

The Sims 3 came out in 2009.

The Sims 3 came out in 2009.

What are Expansion packs?

An expansion pack adds more gameplay, like The Sims Livin' Large adds some cool things to The Sims 1, like a chemistry set, a genie lamp, and new items like carpets.

Basically, new animations, and new items.

Are you considering any Expansions for TS3? I really love Generations, and Late Night was a heavy hitter amongst the fans. Generations emphasizes family, Late Night clubbing (and it has vampires!), Ambitions was careers, and World Adventures was a travel/tour based expansion. There are also Stuff Packs, which I personally haven't bought.

Also there are non-base game games available, like Medieval, DJ, and Castaway.

I'm just learning about this now. I am still playing The Sims 3 and seeing whats in the game. I didnt even know that there were expansion packs until I came on here. It all sounds fun. Does it change the whole game?

Nope! It just adds some new objects, interactions, and the like! It's really quite nice!

As for expansions, they're a matter of taste. For me, as a family-oriented person, Generations is my favourite, but some of my friends couldn't imagine playing without WA, which I never use. So it's just preference!

And gee! That's really exciting! I remember learning all the ways around the Sims! When did you get TS3? Do you have any questions, in-game or otherwise?

You might want to visit Wikipedia or Sims Wiki to get more information on everything and understand how everything works in the game(s). Google those sites.

The Sims 1 (TS1 or TS for short) came out in 1999 (2000 in some territories). The Sims 2 (or TS2) came out in 2004. The Sims 3 (TS3) came out in June 2009.

During the years between each, expansion packs (EPs) and stuff packs (SPs) came out. As noted above, an expansion pack adds new gameplay, such as the vampires in Late Night expansion or the mummies in World Adventures expansion. A stuff pack adds only hairstyles/clothes/furniture/lots but no gameplay elements.

There are 10 (?) expansion packs for TS1, 8 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs for TS2 and 5 expansion packs (to date) and 4 stuff packs (also to date) for TS3.

The Sims franchise also has side games or spin-offs such as The Sims Social on Facebook, The Sims Medieval, The Sims Stories and MySims. TS2 and TS3 (not sure about TS1) are available for Nintendo, Wii and other non-PC platforms too.

Hope that helped. Happy simming (simming is the process of playing the game).
